QI UNIVERSITY OF PERAK

University Programmes

In catering for the manpower needs of the Region as a whole, the University will offer a number of professional as well as distinctive academic programmes at the undergraduate level spanning Science and Social Science disciplines in relevant and highly marketable combinations.

The degree programmes can be undertaken as single majors, double degrees, joint degrees, or double major/major-minor degrees, together with postgraduate-taught courses in niche disciplinary and multidisciplinary areas which will be of major interest to various industry sectors. Only a comprehensive university will have the leverage to conduct such courses.

Foundation in Business (KA 9505)

The Foundation in Business (FB) programme will provide students with a general understanding of business organisations and their structures along with wider considerations such as environments, markets and processes and how all these work together to contribute to organisational success. The foundation programme will enable students to analyse how businesses are organised, strategies are developed, decisions are taken, and how these factors impact competitiveness in business and commerce.

The Foundation in Business is also a unique foundation programme that combines courses in Business and Management with IT, English and Social Studies to give students a solid foundation in the Business Studies while at the same time, opening their minds to other related and relevant knowledge. Such exposure to a wider spectrum of academic material will provide students an integrated learning experience of how each and every one of these related disciplines impinges upon the business environment.

What happens after the Foundation Year?

The unique combination of subjects in this programme allows for greater flexibility in the choice of a degree programme. After successfully completing the foundation programme, students can choose to pursue degree studies in any one of the following disciplines: Business, Management, Accountancy, Law, Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Computer Applications or Social Sciences. The University expects to launch several of these degree programmes in the next two years. The degree programmes can be undertaken as single majors or as major-minor combinations; for students who meet more stringent entry requirements, admission into double-degree programmes is possible with some limitations on the choice of the second degree.
